As Co-Director, Dr. Smith works with Agricultural Marketing Policy Center to identify relevant policy issues for future research. He coordinates the design and implementation of the Center's applied research programs on agricultural trade and domestic policy and market issues. His research interests include the economics of world wheat and other small grains markets, the economic effects of agricultural trade and domestic policies on agricultural commodity markets, and the economics of European Union Common Agricultural Policy. He also provides education on these topics to agricultural producers and other decision makers in Montana and the Northern Plains and Rockies region. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Brester's applied research program includes the economics of livestock and crop markets, the structure of the agribusiness sector, strategic business management, crop insurance education, markets for specialty crops, the economics of expanded crop rotations, and strategies related to diversification and risk management. He provides education on these topics to agricultural producers and policy-makers in Montana and throughout Northern Plains region. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University.

Dr. Buschena is an Associate Professor focusing on Applied Microeconomics and Agricultural Policy. He has a M.S. degree from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a Ph.D., from University of California-Berkeley, majoring in Agricultural Policy, and Agricultural Applied Economics. In 1998, he won Top Ten Instructor from the Dean of Agriculture.
